Student ArchiveMonarch School, Spring 2022 Teaching Artists Alejandro Arreguin Villegas and Claudia Biezunski-Rodriguez (owner of Sew Loka) show off the Monarch School Comfort Quilt. Designed by students taking the Compass program at Monarch School, each quilt square represents an act or item that brings them peace. This wooden structure was constructed by local architect Linson Huang, then decorated by students to be a place of refuge on campus. In addition to displaying the Quilt of Comfort, students use tags to add messages of what brings them joy and peace. The hope is for the structure to become a permanent display at the Monarch School to teach future generations about the importance of knowing and honoring what makes us feel well.
