Summer 2022

About the Program

This summer, Speak San Diego Youth Media is looking to hire a small team to create a youth-driven zine about your experience of the pandemic and “going back to normal.” You’ll choose a craft to focus on (photography, writing or layout design) and collaborate with professionals and other youths to produce a printed and digital zine. Together, we’ll learn to resist erasure by honoring and preserving our experiences within a collective memory. Each participant will receive a $500 stipend and meals will be provided during each team meeting.

“This program is not what I expected but in the best way. I believe that the environment and that the project would be a serious one but I was glad to find that it was a very lenient and welcoming space where I could take everything at my own pace for the most part. I enjoyed the creative freedom.”
