Creative Liaison
Victor Castaneda H is a San Diego based artist and educator that focuses on personal memories and the flaws of recollecting them. To create new and imagined narratives through humor using sculpture, vr, video, sound, and code. Victor got his MFA at UCSD in 2022 and has been part of the San Diego community since. Victor’s interest in community is in the DIY ethos, and placing marginalized communities at the center of an exhibition. His current work is interested in coding as poetry using fabric and embroidery while still focusing on memory. Victor also utilizes the DIY method in his practice using what limited resources he has available in materiality from thrifted fabric, paper, house paint, his cell phone, and laptop, to new media like VR and coding. Often combining paper mache sculptures and new technology like VR. Victor has shown in San Diego through ICA San Diego, Oolong Gallery, Harvest and Gather, while also live coding musical performance at the Brown Building, and MCASD.
