Sophia Sobko
Sophia Sobko has been involved with The AjA Project since 2012 as a teaching artist, curriculum writer, consultant, and grant writer.
She is a researcher, educator and artist informed by decolonial theory, critical pedagogy, and her own politicized history as a white(ned) queer Soviet Jewish immigrant. A former high school teacher and arts programs manager, she received her PhD in Education (Critical Studies of Race, Class & Gender) from UC Berkeley in 2022.
Outside of AjA, Sophia is a Senior Research Associate at RISE Research and Evaluation, founder/co-steward of Kolektiv Goluboy Vagon and founding member of Krivoy Kolektiv. Her artistic practice includes visual art and participatory art/social practice.
